The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM), in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Canada, is helping to recognize those touched by Alzheimer's disease with the release of its 2007 50-Cent Sterling Silver Golden Forget-Me-Not collector coin.

In acknowledgment of the Society's efforts against Alzheimer's disease, the RCM will contribute one dollar to the Alzheimer Society of Canada for every 2007 50-Cent Sterling Silver Golden Forget-Me-Not coin sold. The funds raised from this initiative will help support critical Alzheimer research through the Society's Research Program.

Alzheimer's awareness coin"Alzheimer's disease is a tragic reality for hundreds of thousands of Canadians, and while our understanding of it has increased substantially in the past decade, there is still so much to be learned," says Scott Dudgeon, Chief Executive Officer of the Alzheimer Society of Canada. "Money raised through the sale of the 2007 50-Cent Sterling Silver Golden Forget-Me-Not coin will be directed towards finding a cure, and to improving the lives of those living with Alzheimer's disease. We are very grateful to the Royal Canadian Mint for their support of the Alzheimer Society."

As the sixth coin in the series of Canada's 'golden flowers', the Golden Forget-Me-Not was chosen for both its delicate beauty and the species' significance as the emblem of the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The coin is sterling silver with selective gold plating, and is minted with the

same artistic flair and technical precision as the 2006 Golden Daisy, 2005 Golden Rose and the 2004 Easter Lily.

"The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to introduce collector coins which continue to uphold our reputation for exceptional design and quality, while portraying themes of importance to Canadians," said President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint, Ian E. Bennett. "We are pleased that a coin which celebrates an exquisite specimen of Canada's flora and the emblem of the Alzheimer's Society of Canada will help fund the fight against Alzheimer's disease."

This coin has been available for purchase since April 18, 2007 for the retail price of $44.95. The RCM will contribute $1 from the sale of every coin to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Limited to a world-wide mintage of 20,000, the coin can be purchased from All Nations here, or by calling Brian Grant Duff at (604) 689 2230.
