In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Dog - 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006 - are regarded as loyal, trustworthy, honest and ethical. Year of the Dog Design In 2006, the Australian Lunar Silver Proof Issue celebrates the Year of the Dog with a design featuring a German Shepherd - a devoted, responsible dog that loves human contact. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ also appears in the design.
